I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 / Christian drug rehab

Christian Addiction Recovery

Recovery cannot start until the addict admits that they have a drug problem and are powerless to beat addiction on their own without the help of God and man. Unfortunately this first step in recovery typically comes following much destruction; nevertheless, this is part of the learning and humbling process that addicts generally go through before discovering drugs don’t help but only make matters worse. And by the time they get to that point every aspect of their life is a mess therefore there is much work and healing which needs to be done in order to recover.

Often the second phase of recovery is drug or alcohol detoxification to get the addict through the rough stages of withdrawal. Many Christian drug rehabs require that the addict has already been detoxified before getting in their program. Other Christian drug treatment centers provide detoxification at the facility. After detox the addict needs to get drug addiction treatment because addiction is much more than physical and that’s all that detox treats is the physical side of addiction. Also there are post withdrawals that can linger on for weeks and months depending on the person’s metabolism and the drugs they were taking and for how long they were on them. Depression, anxiety, irritability, fatigue, insomnia, trouble concentrating, lack of motivation and strong drug cravings are a few of the post withdrawals an addict can experience after detox. Therefore inpatient Christian drug rehab is the best option, because you can imagine the temptation an individual will experience facing all those conditions. But that’s not the half of it, even after the post physical withdrawals subside there’s the individual still with all their mental, emotional, social and spiritual problems that must be addressed in order to successfully recover from chemical dependency.

Therefore once detox is complete its best to get into a Christian rehabilitation recovery center to receive intensive treatment and get to the root of the underlying issues and develop a strong foundation in the Lord, to be equipped to handle the many challenges you’ll face in your recovery process. A good Christian rehab will be able to identify those problems that would hinder recovery if not otherwise addressed, some things will be obvious, but often we develop blind-spots, weaknesses or shortcomings in ourselves that we cannot see ourselves. It is important to work on recovering physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually as each aspect can make or break us when we treat them properly or neglect them. The Bible gives us wisdom on how to stay healthy in each of these areas. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. --2 Timothy 1:7

Though drug rehab is a challenge in-and-of-itself, the real testing comes after you leave the safety of the Christian treatment center. Therefore it is vital to continuously apply what we’ve learned in treatment. First and foremost you must avoid people, places and things that are associated with past drugs and alcohol use. However you are not to isolate either, because this always leads back to depression and addictions. Therefore you need to get involved with a local Christian church group and it’s not enough to only go to church on Sunday you’ll need to be involve in there Bible groups and as many activities as possible. Also get involved with celebrate recovery which is a Christian 12 step program. Also you should have morning devotion and evening devotion with prayer and Bible reading.

The more you stay in the Word and plugged in and involved with other Christians the stronger you will be in the day of adversity. Because they will come and you will be tested, so its not a matter of if but a matter of when. Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. James 1:2-4
